Swing

We found this swing on one of our recent walks down to the creek...it hasn't been there forever, the question is, who put it there? Anyone know? Pearl quite enjoyed it by the way...my sisters and their husbands decided to let her be the guinea pig on the unknown swing, just to make sure it worked before endangering any of their kids...:)

Better than slime mold...

I just had to counteract Jared's last entry with some more cuteness... Here are some adorable pictures I got of Sam and Pearl in the flowers...Sam is giving her a flower, then telling her to put it in her hair.

These are the baby chicks from less than two months ago. Big change, huh?! I guess they have to grow fast, another couple months and they'll be laying us more eggs... (oh dear, what was I thinking!)

I know the pictures are slightly fuzzy, but it was getting dark and I was trying not to use the flash...

Slime Mold

Bunnies, real and chocolaty... Cute kids.... Sure, they have their place.

Look what slimed out of a half cut up log in our yard this week. Really disturbing looking, isn't it? What luck! A slime mold.

It's not an animal and not a fungi. Nature is weirder the more you learn about it.

Having successfully disproved my mutant-salamander theory (salamanders don't marry), I now suspect my " brother" John is a highly evolved slime mold (slime molds are highly social). Hmmm, something to think about....

Make your Own Chocolate Bunny

So, I don't know what I used to do to entertain my kids every day during the summer, but with Pearl out of school this week we were desperate for something fun to do! So, I looked online this morning and found that the Fudge Factory in Apple hill had a "make your own bunny" activity. Well, we dragged Mara and Lizzie with us, packed a lunch, and ate a picnic and made bunnies.
Sam figured out how to glue the bunnny candies on right away - he was a champ. We knew he was done when he started eating the candies I gave him to put on his bunny!
Pearl took the whole thing very seriously...it was really cute.
Sam's bunny - impressive for a two year old, huh!
Eating the bunnies right after they were done...

More cute pics of Sam in the flowers

If only the kids had been dressed in their Easter clothes... we might have to go back...

In our Great Backyard

We went for a drive in the Jeep this evening to see if we could see our cows...well, they were there, but hard to see. We stopped at the top of the hill where there were all of these wildflowers, and I got some great pics. I'll post more later this week...
Sam was a lot easier to get a picture of, because he wasn't as into posing as Pearl is. This is his one "cheese" picture, and I still liked it!
Pearl running to give me a flower.
And, the big surprise...we saw the Easter Bunny!! He was right on our road!!! Cool, huh?!

Pizza, pizza, pizza galore...pizza on the ceiling, pizza on the floor...

Well, Maryann has a friday pizza tradition, but that doesn't work for us because Pearl gets pizza in school on Fridays. (Bless the PTC for that, you would understand if your kid went to a school with no cafeteria and you had to pack a lunch that went practically uneaten EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!!) So, we have random pizza days, but it's so easy and the kids love it so much, we practically have it once a week. Especially if I buy the big bag of pepperoni from Sam's club, then we have it once a week for a year!

This particular day, I was feeling very gracious about allowing the kids to top the pizzas. I put the sauce on, and they did the rest...seriously, all by themselves. We had a LOT of pepperoni on the pizza, but I think it was one of the best we've made...
And this was the floor when we were done...actually, it could have been much worse...
Nice handful of pepperoni, don't you think? He did eat it all, then ate only 1/2 piece of pizza:) Well, also we were eating outside, and there is too much to distract a 2 year old boy out there...
