Quad

Uncle Brian is cool. We all know this, and the kids especially love having him live near us for a bit longer. WHO ELSE would decide to take the dust-laden quads out of the barn (technically, they belong to a friend of the family) and give the kids rides around the property on a rainy day? You're right... no one. That's why Uncle Brian is so cool.
Sam was a HUGE fan, just look at his face as he was running home to tell me how awesome it was. (PS it was like 1:00 on a Saturday and yes, the kids were still in their pajamas. Yup. That's real life, folks!)
So, Max and Jared decided to give it a try.
Hmm... not so sure...

Ok, really not a fan. Maybe he would have done better if Uncle Brian had been driving? We'll never know, because I'm pretty sure Max won't be getting back on!

Pearl Sews

Remember my new years resolutions? Well, it was Lizzie's 5th birthday, and Pearl and I decided it was a good day to make sleeping bags for Felicity and Lizzie's birthday doll, Ashleigh. Instead of a party, Liz got to have Pearl spend the night, so we figured the sleeping bag would be appropriate. Off we went to the fabric store (technically the back corner of Grandma Hulbert's office) and thanks to some velcro I had on hand, we got to start sewing right away. We recently made a quilt in girl scouts, and Pearl had sewn Felicity's quilt and mattress with her grandma, so she's gotten pretty good with a sewing machine. I made the sleeping bags, but Pearl made the pillows and sewed them onto the bags ALL BY HERSELF - no joke. She sewed, stuffed, tucked and topstiched those pillows.

And, it's safe to say, that they were a big hit! The dolls were cozy, and everone was happy (except poor Katie, I'll have to find an excuse to make her one soon:)
Check for me!

Rain.

It has been raining so much. The whole world is wet, and it's during this time of the year that I really wish I had a garage. The kids have been stuck inside, which is hardest on Max, who has the least capacity for self entertainment. He kept escaping out the side door, so I finally had to get a latch for it, I was so tired of changing his clothes 5 times a day! Today, he was begging so hard to go outside, and I was trying to make dinner, so I put his jacket on and gave in. He had a blast, he stayed out for like 20 minutes, then he came in happy:) At one point, he tried to take shelter under his slide, but I think the cold was finally getting to him, so he and his little red nose finally came inside. Whatever works to keep us both happy! He then took a warm sink bath while I finished up dinner... win win!

Tie Dye

Pearl had Makayla over for a playdate this weekend. I love it when it's my turn to have the girls, they are so big now they hardly need any entertainment. Today, I let them tie dye some t-shirts. It was a big hit! I let them be totally independent, and they did great! I love this age!!!!

They turned out so cute. Pearl really wanted to wear hers to church the next day, so we wore it with a jean jumper. Then the girls wore them to school together, such fun! It was WAY easier and less messy than I thought it would be, we'll have to do it again!

News

It's official. I had my first appointment today... I'm 9 1/2 weeks pregnant, due October 1st! This is my excuse for my lack of blogging... I'm nauseous all day and fall into bed by 7:30 exhausted. There are some things I've been waiting to journal, though....

When I told Pearl, she asked if it was still ok to hug me:)

One day when I was too yucky to eat lunch with the boys, Sam asked me why I wasn't eating. When I told him I didn't think I could, he nodded sagely and said "yeah, you don't want any food to land on your baby's head!"

We're excited... a little nervous at the prospect of 4 kids, but glad I'm squeaking the last one in before 35... Max is NOT going to be pleased...:)
